Effort Sharing Legislation

This is an EU law which sets binding yearly emission reductions for Member States from 2021 to 2030. It is part of the EU’s implementation of the Paris Agreement.

Ireland must reduce its emissions not under the EU Emissions Trading System by almost a third (30%) on 2005 levels. It must do this by 2030. These emissions include greenhouse gas emissions from homes, cars, small businesses and agriculture.
